Inside this app you'll find a digital edition of your favourite magazine. You can purchase copies either as single issues or as a subscription. Below you can find a list of our frequently asked questions - just tap a question for more information.
Our digital editions come in two varieties - digital replicas or interactive editions.
The description text next to the issue cover will highlight what type of digital edition is on offer.
Please note: interactive editions are currently available for the iPad only, although we have plans to bring them to iPhone in the near future. If you subscribe to an interactive edition on the iPad, you will be served the digital replica when you open your digital edition on your iPhone.
As long as you use the same iTunes account on all your devices (iPad and iPhone), then your magazine purchases are shared across them all.
When you first launched this app you will have been asked if you wanted to restore previous purchases, which allows you to transfer your purchases to more than one device. If you wish to do this at a later date, press the 'Restore Purchases' button on this screen. iPhone users will find this under the 'More' button.
The free trial will entitle you to one month no obligation access which will provide you with the latest issue free. If you don't wish to continue your trial simply turn off auto-renew in your Apple account subscriptions page at least 24 hours before the auto-renew is due. If you continue subscribing you will auto-renew at the chosen price and frequency of the option you originally selected.
If you have subscribed, new issues will be delivered to your device automatically as long as your your device is connected to wifi. Your Newsstand app will then be marked with a red number alerting you to the fact. Please note: you will only receive issues automatically in this way if you have accepted 'New Issues and Push Notifications' from us when installing your app.
In addition, all readers who have signed up to 'New Issues and Push Notifications' (subscribers or otherwise) will receive a brief message from us when a new issue is released.
Any issues that are released during your subscription will be available to you to download and read whenever you want to, even after your subscription ends.
All new subscriptions begin from the most recently released issue available on Newsstand, so the current issue on sale and future issues released within your subscription period will become available as they are published.
Issues released prior to the start of your subscription won't be part of your subscription. If you would like to own them, you will have to purchase these back issues individually.
Unfortunately subscriptions are handled differently across all digital platforms by many different third-party providers. At this time we are not able to offer this type of service, however, it is something we are actively exploring and we will post further information when it is available.
No; subscriptions for Zinio may only be used inside Zinio.
There is currently no way to automatically access physical gifts and inserts associated with the print edition of your magazine. Where possible, print extras such as mini-magazines and catalogues are now being added to the back of the relevant issue. Content from covermounted CDs and DVDs is also being used to enhance to our pages of both digital replicas and interactive editions (see next question).
We are currently trialling multiple options to provide the related CD/DVD disc content supplied with the physical print editions of some of our magazines.
Increasingly, our digital replicas are placing audio/video CD/DVD disc content 'on top' of the pages whilst interactive editions are fully embedding the content inside the editions. See the numerous free samplers inside your app for live examples.
Other titles such as Guitarist magazine are trialling our new Future Vault online system, an online solution for providing CD/DVD disc content for separate download. As this can sometimes include software patches and demos as well as audio/video content, a desktop is sometimes required rather than a tablet device. See http://vault.guitarist.co.uk for an example of this service.
Other titles will be added to the Future Vault system soon. For updates on covermounts relating to digital editions, please sign up to app alerts or look for details within your favourite publication.
You must cancel your subscription from inside your iTunes account. To do this, please follow these steps:
If an issue won't download, or hangs while downloading, please try the following options in order, testing for success after each and only moving onto the next option if it still doesn't work:
If you downloaded an issue and it no longer appears to be there, this usually happens because you did an upgrade/restore of your device and the issues were removed by iTunes. Another reason for issues disappearing is your device was running low on storage space and removed the issues silently without notification (a built-in iOS feature and one beyond our control).
In both cases, you can follow these instructions to re-download your issues:
To download and view issues already purchased on a different iOS device, tap 'Restore Purchases' when prompted. Any single issues will start downloading immediately. Any subscription issues will be shown as being available for download. You will not be charged again in either instance.
A Help page can be found inside your interactive edition, explaining all page icons and navigation tips.
If your specific issue was not answered here, visit http://www.futureplc.com/app-support. Alternatively, please feel free to contact us on apps@futurenet.com.
If you have received a special in-app voucher code you can redeem this by tapping the voucher icon on the bottom taskbar (iPad) or the voucher button in the top left of this help page (iPhone/iPod touch). When prompted enter the in-app voucher code and then you will find your entitled products ready to download in your library (iPad) or store (iPhone/iPod touch).
