Program your Optimum TV Remote Control

You can program your Optimum TV remote to conveniently control your TV's volume and power functions.

Three-Digit Code Programming Method:

    Turn on the TV.
    Press and hold the TV and SEL buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The iO button will light.
    With the iO button lit, point the remote at the TV and enter the TV's three-digit code (see code table below).
                 The TV will shut off once the correct code is entered.

    Verify by pressing the MUTE button. This should turn the TV on and off.
    Press the TV button to store the three-digit code. The iO button will blink twice to confirm the code is stored.

Note: If there is more than one three-digit number listed for the TV brand, try one code number at a time until the TV turns off.
If none of the codes successfully program your remote, try the Auto Search Programming Method listed below.

Auto Search Programming Method
Use this method if the three-digit code method does not successfully program your remote control:

    Turn on the TV.
    Press and hold the TV and SEL buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The iO button will light.
    With the iO button lit, point the remote at the TV and press and then release either the CH+ or CH- button. Continue until the TV turns off.
    Verify that the programming worked by pressing the MUTE button. This should turn the TV on and off.
    Press the TV button to store the code. The iO button will blink twice to confirm the code is stored.


Changing the Volume Controls
Once you program the remote to control TV, it will automatically control the TV's volume and mute functions as well. If you want to program
the remote to control the volume on the cable box instead:

    Press and hold the CBL and SEL buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The iO button will light.
    With the iO button lit, point the remote at the cable box and press the VOL+ button.
    Press the CBL button. The iO button will blink twice to confirm the code is stored.

Note: To return to original state, repeat the preceding steps and replace the CBL button with the TV button in step 3.

You may also need to set the cable box's volume control to variable, by following the steps below.

If you are using the new program guide:

    Press Settings twice to access the Full Settings menu.
    Select Audio and then select Volume Control.
    Select Variable and press SEL.

If you are not using the new program guide:

    Press Settings twice to access the General Settings menu.
    Scroll to Audio: Volume Ctrl.
    Select Variable and press SEL.


Note: When using HDMI cables to connect your TV to a Scientific Atlanta digital cable box, you will not be able to control the volume
 through the cable box using the remote control provided by Cablevision.
However, you can control the volume through the TV using the provided remote. This is not an issue when using a Samsung cable box.
